About Lisa Trout
Guiding Families With Experience, Care, and Local Insight
After decades working in St. Louis area schools, from teaching in early childhood classrooms to leading admissions and serving as Head of School, I’ve learned that the right school fit can be life-changing. As an Independent Educational Consultant, I work with families who are new to the St. Louis area or reevaluating their current options to find a PK through 12th grade school where their children will thrive both academically and personally. I also collaborate with elementary schools to prepare their students for secondary and high school visits and interviews. This work may be done with individual students, small groups, or entire classes. In addition, I partner with parent groups to demystify the admissions process and provide practical, encouraging guidance.

Most recently, I served as Director of Admissions at The Whitfield School, where I led strategic recruitment efforts, streamlined the admissions process, and built lasting connections with families. I was also a sixth-grade advisor and club leader, roles that allowed me to work directly with students—an aspect of my career I deeply enjoyed. Prior to that, I held admissions and leadership roles at several schools across the region. Whether designing visit days, training student ambassadors, or hosting open houses, I’ve always prioritized authenticity, clarity, and connection. I bring that same approach to my work with families today.
Over the years, I have also contributed to school leadership through service on a variety of committees, including the Financial Aid Committee, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Council, Independent Schools of St. Louis (ISSL) Dashboard Planning Committee, and Scheduling Restructuring Committee. These experiences have deepened my understanding of how schools operate and the values that shape their communities.
I am committed to ongoing learning and regularly attend professional conferences and presentations. These have included the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS) Heads of School Conference, the Enrollment Management Association (EMA) Conferences, and the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) Conferences, including their international gathering in Prague. I also seek out thought leaders such as Dr. Lisa Damour and Dr. Tim Jordan when they present in St. Louis.
Outside of work, I’m the proud mom of two adult children and love seeing how they’ve drawn on their school, home, and community experiences to shape their lives. I find joy in the big and small moments of life, and my favorite times bring together nature, movement, good food, and great company.
Whether you're exploring schools for the first time or making a change that better suits your child’s needs, I’d be honored to partner with you on this journey.
